Dino's Daughter Sings Daddy's Classics | Arts & Culture
"When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's amore," Dean Martin used to sing to audiences across the world. No doubt some eyes will widen later this month as the suave superstar's daughter, Deana Martin, will rekindle memories of her beloved father at the 11th annual Silent Auction and Concert at St. Agnes Academy's Siena Performning Arts Center. "Deana Sings Dino" is the name of the tribute Deana Martin will present. The program will feature songs her father made famous including, "Volare" and its enchanting lyrics, "Volare, OH OH. E Cantare, oh oh oh oh, No wonder my happy heart sings, your love has given me wings." Deana Martin was front and center for much of her father's brilliant career in night clubs, television and the cinema. She was a regular player on NBC's "Dean Martin Show" and became familiar with her father's famous friends, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., Peter Lawford, Joey Bishop---known worldwide as "The Rat Pack." Ms. Martin is a classically trained, internationally acclaimed actor, and best selling author. Her memoir, "Memories Are Made of This"---Dean Martin Through His Daughter's Eyes, tells the inside story of growing up with a star that other celebrities regarded as the "King of Cool."
