Collierville native helps Ravens win Super Bowl | News
COLLIERVILLE, TN- (WMC-TV) – Before the Baltimore Ravens and Collierville native Morgan Cox could hold the Lombardi Trophy, Cox's father said his son had to make one of the most important snaps of his career.
"We were on pins and needles right there until the very end," Wright Cox said
But just like at Evangelical Christian School and the University of Tennessee, Cox got off the snap and helped seal history in front of his entire family.
"All we could do is look at each other, hug each other and we both burst into tears," Cox said.
Wright and Cindy Cox are driving back from New Orleans playing the memories over in their head.
"We think back to this small little fella playing out in the yard," Cox added.
Cox's yard eventually became the field at ECS where coaches are still beaming.
Michael Oher even played against Cox while the two were in high school before both ended up on the same Ravens team.
"I remember him telling me, coach I'm going to be a long snapper for Tennessee and he did it," ECS coach Alan Durham said.
Cox's Aunt Ann Murray wasn't able to make the trip to New Orleans, but she's seen all the pictures.
"It was just a great celebration and to see all the confetti falling on his head," Murray said.
There are several pictures of Cox in the confetti, one that he posted on twitter with a message his father said he learned while on this ECS field here in the Mid-South.
"What he posted under it, to God be the glory, great things he has done," Cox said. "You're trying to soak it all up, but it's hard to take it all in."
The Cox family said they've been overwhelmed by all of the phone calls, text messages, and social media posts.
